Brad Ferris

Brad Ferris is the author of the blog Triaging My Way To Financial Success. He originally created this blog in early 2007 as a method of documenting his investing activities, stock analysis, market perspectives and investing discipline on value investments, dividend growth and healthcare.

Brad is 27, a resident of London, Ontario, Canada and works fulltime as a registered nurse. He originally completed a Bachelors of Business Administration from a Canadian business school and chose a career in healthcare for the benefits of his family, lifestyle and making a difference in the lives of others.

Brad became interested in money at the age of 15 and began investing in CSB’s, GIC’s and then mutual funds. He took savings from his part-time work after paying education costs and began his pursuit of investing in individual equities independently. After a mentorship and five years of self-study, Brad began investing as a DIY investor in late 2005. He invests using a holistic approach that utilizes key value and dividend-growth principles in three portfolios (Value, DivG & RSP).

Brad's investing discipline is guided by a set of Value Rules and lessons learned on Enduring Value. He has extensive knowledge of the healthcare industry in pharmaceutical and medical device/supply companies and incorporates those insights into his portfolios when possible.
He also offers private consulting services to individuals and small businesses where he concentrates on strategic management of operations, marketing and execution that incorporate lessons learnt from his education, Value Rules and global experiences.

Brad's belief is that the best investment decisions are made when an individual considers their risk tolerance and are adequately informed. His blog provides information on a number of topics that he hopes will benefit new and experienced investors.

Wells Fargo (WFC) will become the largest U.S. bank by branches with its bid for Wachovia (WB), after Citigroup (C) withdrew from compromise negotiations late yesterday on concerns about the quality of some of Wachovia's assets. Wells Fargo, with a bid valued at $11.4B, expects the purchase to be completed by the end of the year, and denies it will have to absorb assets shakier than originally thought. Government considers next steps. As the financial crisis continues to worsen, the U.S. government is considering two dramatic steps to turn around, or at least slow, the damage: guaranteeing billions of dollars in bank debt and temporarily insuring all U.S. bank deposits. The moves, which would mark the government's most extensive intervention to date, are in discussion stages only. Credit stays frozen. As frozen credit markets refuse to thaw, the cost of default protection on corporate bonds reaches new global records amid investor concerns the credit crisis will trigger corporate failures as companies struggle to finance their businesses. Interbank lending remains limited, and borrowing from the Fed's expanded discount window continued its trend of setting new highs every week, as the total daily average rose to $420.2B vs. $367.8B last week. Computer Sciences (CSC) -- This is a company that was going to be bought, but they passed up the chance. Now I don't want to buy it."
